Bunninadden ran out convincing winners in this Kennedy’s Intermediate Championship Round 2 fixture played in ideal conditions in Tourlestrane. The winners were rarely troubled throughout the game and took complete control from midway through the first half. The game started at a fast pace with a number of mistakes made on both sides. Possession in the midfield sector was equally shared at this stage ensuring a good supply of ball into both forward lines. Cloonacool opened the scoring on three minutes with a well taken point from distance from Packie McIntyre. Bunninadden replied with a free from Vincent Frizzell. Bunninadden now took a lead that they would never relinquish through an excellent long range point from Shane Doherty and a Shane Kerins effort. Cloonacool responded with a free from James Armstrong after a foul on Stephen Gallagher. Bunninadden edged further ahead with a well taken point from Vincent Frizzell. Cloonacool added another to their tally to reduce the deficit to one with a James Armstrong free after the ball was played on the ground with the hand by a Bunninadden defender. Bunninadden streched the advantage to two with another Vincent Frizzell point form a free. Cloonacool recorded their next score through a Packie McIntyre free. The decisive score in the first half came in the form of a Kenneth Kerins goal after he took a good delivery from Bunninaden center forward Mark Gormely and expertly finished to the net. Bunninadden added on two good points late in the first half from Padraig Doohan to leave the half time score Bunninaddden 1-8 Cloonacool 0-4. The second half started brightly for the winners with points from Frizzell and Kenneth Kerins. Cloonacool raised hopes of a comeback when Stephen Gallagher fisted to the net following a long delivery from Packie McIntyre. This hope was short lived as the winners now took complete control of the contest running through the Cloonacool defence on numerous occasions. Another Frizzell free along with good points by Padraig Doohan, Kenneth Kerins and James McLoughlin ended the game as a contest. There was still time for Joseph Rogers to kick two great points in sucession from difficult angles and a fine fisted point to finish the game with a flourish for the winners. Bunninadden were well served by a very tight defence led by Michael Gormley. In the midfield sector Padraig Doohan and the excellent Vincent Frizzel controlled the game and supplied their forward divison with an excellent supply of ball. Up front Kenneth Kerins was a potent threat registering a personal tally of a goal and four.
