Trip to Carndonagh

The Cloonacool Football team made the long trip up to Carndonagh to play the local team in a memorial game for Joe McLoughlin. The occasion was a remarkable success. There was a minute silence observed before the six o'clock kick off. The game itself turned into a lively affair. Carndonagh threatened to run away with the match in the early stages but Cloonacool managed to pull themselves back into the contest with some excellent long range points. It was thought that the long trip and heavy dinner had an impact on the Cloonacool team but recent results and performances don't back this theory up. The tempo never let up in the second half either and Carndonagh ran out winners by a few points (No one thought to keep the score!). After the game both teams went for food and some light refreshments where a presentation was made to the Carndonagh club of a memorial plate to mark the game. Fr Dan spoke afterwards with some more than suitable words. I would like to thank everyone that made the trip, especially Fr Dan, and also Pat McCarrick who was on Photo duty.
