Details of Cycle in Cloonacool
On Sunday 17th Oct 2010 two cycles will take place in and around Cloonacool.
Each participate must be fill out a disclaimer form (Click on link and follow instructions) and hand in on the day. These forms will also be available on the day. I ask that all participants will sign the disclaimer form, failure to do so will unfortunately result in the withdrawl of your name from the cycle challenge.
Concerning safety on the day, I would like to highlight again the importance that all cyclists wear a helmet and have a road worthy well maintained bicycle on the day. As identified initially, each cyclist is responsible for securing their own personal insurance. This can be purchased for a minimal fee on cyclingireland
Route for 52 mile cycle
The 1st cycle of 52 miles will leave the village at 10 o\'clock and registration will be taken in BRENNAN\'S lounge from 9 o\'clock on the morning with an entry fee of ?25. Cyclists will leave Cloonacool in the direction of Ballina, turning right for Masshill(sigh posted for Lough Easkey) and left after the old school in Mashill for Lough Talt.
Refreshments/water at Lough Talt Church. We then travel down to Joe Dans Pub and turn right for Aclare, and on to Tourlestrane and Tubbercurry meeting the R294 at St Attracta\'s Community School and then up through Tubbercurry to Doohan\'s Shop and filling station.
Refreshments/water at Doohan\'s Shop. Out the main Sligo Road(N17) turning left after GAA pitch for Cloonacool. Turn right after crossing rail line for the village of lavagh and straight on for the village of Collaney.
Refreshments/water at O\'Grady\'s Shop and bar in Collaney. Leave Collaney in the direction of Sligo turning left after Dermot Lynch\'s house(2nd left out of village) where we will see some of the finest scenery in the county, but it comes at a price, at the end of this road we turn left nto the Ladies Brae for Carrowneaden and right in Carrowneaden for Cloonacool.
Route for 12 mile cycle
The 2nd cycle will depart Cloonacool at approx 1 o\'clock and will travel a distance of 13 miles again reg will take place in pub and it is hoped to have families participate in this cycle. Entry fee here is ?10 for 1 person or ?25 for a family wishing to enter. Cyclist will leave Cloonacool village for the community pitch and turn right for Ballyglass and right again for Allens. There will be a water stop at the home of Mary and Martin Brennan in Carraun and all cyclists will regroup before crossing the road. Turn right for Tullycusheen and right again at the top of the road for Cloonacool.
All cyclists will have to fill entry/disclaimer form before leaving the village. No helmet no ride.
