Registration for all underage footballers and their families was held in Cloonacool Community Park on Saturday evening last 4th February. All players of every age have to be registered before they are eligible to play for the club in the coming season. There were lots of spot prizes for the children and refreshments for everyone. The annual 5k road race/walk will be held on Sunday next 12th February starting at Cloonacool Community Park at 12 noon. Registration will be from 10.30 am.The race will start just beyond the community pitch and run towards the village. Competitors will turn at the Community Centre and run back towards the park. Stewards will be on hand to direct the runners and to organize car parking. Entry fees are 10 euro for adults, 5 euro for children and 25 euro for a family. There will be changing room and showers available as well as refreshments served afterwards. This is a flat course AAI permitted and Jones Counter Measured. There will be cash prizes awarded to the first three men, the first three women, first local man, first local woman first national and first secondary school runner. This is also a family day out and as many families as possible are asked to come along to walk, jog or sprint. The race day attracted over 300 people last year and we hope to increase that number on Sunday next. Sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of the late Sean Muldoon, Ballinacarrrow, and the late Nora Teresa Brennan Pearse Road Sligo and formerly of Tullycusheen who went to their eternal reward in recent weeks.
