Club PRO Notes

The Club wish to thank all who supported their Annual Social night in Brennan’s over the festive Season. Outgoing Chairperson Michael Armstrong thanked John and Fiona for the use of their premises over his tender as Chairman and also had a word of thanks for Keith & Geraldine during their time involved, He thanked all who had helped in so many ways with the day to day activity of the Club over the years. On the night presentations were made to the Young Player of the Year and the Player of the Year 2011. The Young Player Award went to Jason Brennan while the Player of the Year award went to Joe Neary. All who sponsored prizes on the night were thanked for their continued support. Musicon the night was provided by Tony Marren.

The Club’s AGM was held on Thursday 29 December in the New Meeting Room in the Community Park. This a new venue which was recently complete marked a new chapter in the Club’s History. Outgoing Treasurer Ary Mc Carrick went through a detailed finance report while Outgoing Secretary Fergus Leonard reported on the Club’s activities for the year. In his address Outgoing Chairperson Michael Armstrong thanked all who had supported the Club during the Year and also during the past eight years that he was Chairperson. Concluding his report Michael announced he was stepping down.

After other various reports the meeting went on to elect the Officers for the coming Year. President: Fr Kevin Johnston, Vice President: Michael Calvey, Patron: Michael Rowley, Chairperson: Fr Dan O’Mahony, Vice Chairperson: Martin Seery, Secretary: Fergus Leonard, Assistant Secretary: Joe Neary, Treasurer: Neil Walsh, Assistant Treasurer: Art McCarrick, PRO: Martin Seery, Assistant PRO: Pat McCarrick, Insurance Officer: Fergus Leonard, Intergration Officer: Bill Carty, Children’s Officer: TBC, Coaching Officer: Maurice Conboy, Culture Officer: Fergus Leonard, Irish Officer: Ronan Leonard, Co Board Delegate: Fr Dan O’Mahony/Michael Armstrong/Martin Seery, Schools Delegate: Bill Carty, Finance Committee: Art McCarrick, Neil Walsh, Michael Armstrong, Pat McCarrick, Maurice Conboy, Bill Carty. Team Management & Teams for 2012. No Managers were appointed but a Committee was put in place to sourse managers for the coming year. Management Committee: Tom Towey, Bill Carty, Maurice Conboy and Fr Dan O’Mahony.

A number of points will be finalised at the January monthly meeting. The club wishes Fr Dan O’Mahony every success as Chairperson for the coming year. Fr Dan’s appointment means he becomes the Club’s 11th Chairperson since the Club was reformed at the end of 1977 meaning the Club wll celebrate 35 years back near the end of 2012 and also a year near to it Centenuary. Membership for the coming year was set as follows and may be paid to either the Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Chairperson or Secretary. Adult €60, Students €20, Family €70, National School €10.

The Club congratulates Margie Carty and Anthony Scanlon on their recent Marriage. Margie along with her brother Gerry were involved in the running of the Club’s Annual 5k Road race in February.

The Club extend sympathy to Dympna & Stephen Henry, Tourlestrane on the recent death of Dympna’s mother. A Happy New Year to all our Club Players, Officers, Mentors, Supporters and the wider Sporting Area of the Club. The Year 2011 proved a successful one for the Cloonacool/Tubbercurry Ladies Club with the Junior and Minor Teams winning Championship Titles, indeed the Junior Team also claimed the League Title and were Runner’s Up in the Connacht Junior Club Championship. To mark their Achievements the Ladies Club is holding a Dinner Dance/Presentation night in cawley’s on Saturday 21 January 2012. Tickets are available at €25. No doubt given the level of success the Club enjoyed, these ticket could be snapped up quickly so advanced purchasing may be advisable.
