Club PRO Notes

5 September 2012

Saturday 1stSeptember 2012, a date always associated with the return to school! Well on Saturday evening last in Kilcoyne Park, Tubbercurry, the date will be remembered for another reason. Itís the day Cloonacool returned to a Championship Final after a 15 year gap. Not since 14thSeptember 1997 has the Club contested an Adult Championship Final. Following a Draw a week earlier in Tourlestrane, Cloonacool made no mistake on Saturday evening as Coolera/Strandhill were put to the sword. The lads now meet St Johnís in the Junior Championship Final this coming weekend please see Fixtures column for venue & Time or www.cloonacoolgaa.ie. The Club is asking for all support to travel along to the venue and to show their support with flags, bunting etc in the area as we treasure the moment of being in a County Final once again. Congrats to the local CT Ladies on their achievement of reaching the Ladies Intermediate Championship Final a year after they won the Junior Championship Title. Saturday September 22nd at 2.30pm is the date & time for this yearís Final with Kilcoyne Park, Tubbercurry once again hosting the Final. On Sunday last they defeated Eastern Harps with a point to spare. With Curry defeating Eoghan Rua in the other game, it resulted in our ladies qualifying for the Final. Sundayís result was sweet as the Harps had defeated our Club Minors during the week. On Sunday last, the Club hosted a fun day in the local Park. Once again the Club wishes to thank all who supported the day and the various who helped out on the day. A number of athletic events were held on the day with a number of novelty events were also on the cards (Photos of the Day now appear in Gallery on www.cloonacoolgaa.ie). The day was to prove to be a good one for our Club Chairman Fr Dan, as Mayo were to clinch a place in the All Ireland Final.
