Club PRO Notes
11 October 2012
No doubt where pride of place goes this week, it’s to our Ladies Club CT Gaels on their great victory over Curry in the Ladies Intermediate Championship Final on Saturday last in Kilcoyne Park, Tubbercurry. The win was all the sweeter as Curry had defeated them in the Round Robin stages of the Championship. However on Saturday last the girls led from start to finish grinding out a two point victory on a score line of 2 – 7 to 1 – 8 to insure the Barton Smith Cup – presented by one of our own, Martin Seery – will be Moyside for the next 12 months. This success follows hot on the heels of our fellows winning the Junior Championship a few weeks ago and also follows up our Junior success from 2011 when the Bank of Ireland Cup stayed Moyside for the last 12 months. The Girls now play Bornacoola from Leitrim on Saturday next 29th September in Charlestown at 3pm. Once again the Club will be hoping for as much support as possible to travel the short journey to the Mayo border for this clash. Congrats to all concerned with this latest success.
On Friday night next – 28thSeptember 2012 – the Club is holding a Table Quiz in Brennan’s Lounge, Cloonacool on Friday 28th September at 9pm. All support would be appreciated. Who knows maybe questions from last weekend may pop up or maybe from the Fun Day or maybe indeed from Mayo’s defeat to Donegal on Sundays last. Commiserations to our Club Chairman Fr Dan on the weekend’s defeat. Tables of 4 cost €40.
An All Ireland with a difference, a relived Co Final or maybe just good or bad memories from either defeat of victory!! Coming your way in the coming weeks as part of a novel fundraising event for Cloonacool Community Centre – which closes its doors this week for the next 12 months – as it redevelops for the future. It’s the meeting of old rivals Cloonacool & St Nathy’s in Cloonacool Community Park. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Meanwhile a number of recruits are required for various tasks to deal with this event. All interviews will take place before the game. More details to follow.
The Club extends sympathy to Francie Henry, Cloonacool on the passing of his sister Monica McGowan, Kiltimagh recently. Sympathy is also extended to the Walsh Family, Rhue, Tubbercurry on the passing of Vincent Walsh.
