Club PRO Notes
17 October 2012
On Saturday last, our Ladies Team CT Gaels were out of luck as they suffered defeat to a strong Hollymount team (Regraded from Senior in County in 2011) from Mayo in Ballyhaunis. The Ladies are to be complemented on their achievements this year following on from the great success in 2011. They can now look forward to playing the powers that be from Geevagh, Drumcliffe/Rosses Point and of course St Nathy’s in the Senior Championship of 2013. Could three in a row com our way and add the Gillespie Sports Cup to the Barton Smith Cup (in 2012) and the Bank of Ireland Cup (in 2011), time will tell. The U – 14 Girls will contest the C Championship Final in the coming weeks as they await the winners of a Geevagh/Curry playoff.
For one Day only, in Cloonacool Community Park on Bank Holiday Monday 29thOctober 2012, Comes a game with a difference. A trip down memory lane from a Co Final of old or maybe just good or bad memories from either defeat of victory!! Its part of a novel fundraising event for Cloonacool Community Centre – which closed its doors recently for the next 12 months – as it redevelops for the future. It’s the meeting of old rivals Cloonacool & St Nathy’s in Cloonacool Community Park. Refreshments will be served afterwards. In the coming weeks interviews will take place for the number of recruits required for various tasks to deal with this event. At stake is the All Star Cup for the winners and of course a great chance to re live the days of old. It also happens to be 20 years of Ladies Football in Sligo.
In a little over two and a half Weeks time, the Senior Team (Junior County Champions) will contest the Connacht Junior Club Semi Final on Sunday 4th November against the Champions of Roscommon. In recent weeks a number of photos from the Junior Championship Final victory were added to the Club’s website. The Club is asking for all to show their support with flags, bunting etc in the area as we treasure the moment of representing both the parish and the County in Connacht.
The Club wish to Congratulate Fellow Parish Man from Tubbercurry, Rafael Cretaro and Sligo Rovers on being crowned Airtricity League Premier Division Champions at the weekend. Congratulations also to Curry on winning the Senior Championship Title a little over a week ago and to Bunninadden on their success in the Intermediate Championship.
