Club PRO Notes
04 November 12
On Sunday last, the Senior Team’s season came to an end with defeat the Connacht Junior Club Championship in Kiltoom to Oran from Roscommon. After waiting all of 8 weeks since the Junior decider – one wonders why the Co Junior Final had to be played so early – the lads fell behind by 5 points inside the opening quarter, however they recovered and went in at half time only 2 behind at 0 – 6 to 0 – 4. In the second half Oran upped the tempo of the game to command a 6 point lead entering injury time. A few scores in Injury time didn’t do the score line justice with our opponents running out 1 – 12 to 0 – 5 winners. Despite this setback on Sunday, the year 2012 proved to be a successful one for the Club. The team lined out on Sunday as follows: Art McCarrick, Pauric Murtagh, Fergus Leonard, Paul Queenan, Kevin Gallagher, Neil Walsh, Paul Kilcoyne, Joe Neary, Jason Brennan, Brian McIntyre, James Lawrence (0 – 2), Pakie McIntyre, James Armstrong (0 – 2), John Mc Vann, Hughie Marren (0 – 1). The Club extends sympathy to the Leonard family, Derreens – all of whom have been great ambassadors for the Club – on the passing of Joe’s brother Johnny in England during the week. The Charity match between Cloonacool & St Nathy’s Ladies teams proved a success on Bank Holiday Monday to help raise funds for the repair work on the Community Centre.
