Club PRO Notes

14 April 2013

No question where pride of place goes this week. It has to be to our U – 10 team who played Live to Markievicz Park on Saunday 7th April. The Occasion of course was at half time in the Sligo v Wicklow NFL game. A great day and a great experience for all concerned, No doubt many if not all of them will be seen sporting the Black & White in years to come playing on many more Co Grounds. Our U – 8’s & U – 10’s played their first match of the season on Wednesday evening last against Bunninadden in the Community Park. The Club wishes to complement, thank and appreciate all who helped out on both occasions. Training continues on Friday evenings at 6.30pm. Congratulations to St Attracta’s College and in particular to Club Players Jason Brennan as Captain, Niall Brennan and Jack McIntyre on winning the Masita All Ireland Colleges Title in Mullingar against Our Lady’s College, Templemore. Congratulations also to Club Player, Aiden Kilcoyne and Mary Marren on their recent marriage. Congratulation goes to Loyal Club Supporter Frank Gavigan, who celebrated a milestone Birthday recently. The Tubbercurry/Cloonacool Minor Team traveled to Kent Park, Ballydoogan last week to play St Mary’s. On the night the lads had to give way to the home side. This week the team is down to play Owenmore Gaels – who are still to play a fixture – at home. Club Secretary Fergus Leonard is to be complemented on his achievements of managing his School Our Lady’s College in Co Tipperary to an All Ireland Colleges Final. Sadly for Fergus his team was defeated in the Final. The Senior Team recorded a 2 – 13 to 2 – 8 victory over Shamrock Gaels on Sunday in the Community Park. The team appeared to be coasting at half time but the visitors rallied in the second half to make a game of it. However a few late points for Cloonacool settled the issue. Next up is St Molaise Gaels away in 2 weeks time.
